FAQ
-
How do I order a cake?
Go to the tab that says “Quote Form” and fill out the form. All the information on the form is necessary for me to give you an accurate quote. I will review your information and email you with a quote. After receiving and accepting the quote, pay the retainer (Non-refundable 50% of the total order) to reserve the date the cake is needed. The date is officially reserved for you only after I receive your retainer.
-
How far in advance do I need to order a cake?
At least 3 weeks. Every cake is unique so I have to make sure there is enough time for designing your custom order and to get any additional supplies needed for your custom cake. Some dates fill up faster than others so secure your date as soon as possible.
-
How much does a cake cost?
Since every cake is different (ie. flavor, size, decorations) there is not a set price list of custom cakes. Each cake order has to be assessed on the details that the customer would like for their customized cake. Decorated cakes usually start at $200.
-
How can I pay for my cake?
We will email you an invoice from The Square to make your credit card payments online. You can also pay by PayPal or by cash. We can accept card payments in person, a receipt will then be sent to your email.
-
When can I change or cancel an order and not get penalized?
The required 50% retainer is NON-REFUNDABLE. Any changes or cancellations to this order must be made no later than (14) days prior to delivery/pick-up. Some changes would require an additional fee. If canceled (7) days or less, the customer is required to pay the remaining balance. Invoice must be paid within 24 hours of receiving or the order will not be complete and the date is not guaranteed. Any change of date after booking is not guaranteed, we book according to our date availability.
-
Do you deliver?
Yes, I do deliver. I’m located in Boynton Beach and will deliver to Palm Beach and Broward counties. There is a delivery charge of $1.50 per mile from Boynton Beach. And, of course, there is always the option of free pick-up.
-
Are your cakes made from scratch?
Yes, they are. All our cakes are made with quality ingredients and they are made to order, to ensure quality. They are not mass-produced like many supermarkets so we do not have cakes on hand for last-minute purchases.
-
Do your cakes taste good?
I love this question. Of course, they taste good, I would not sell a bad-tasting cake. I love to eat cake so I want to make sure that not only will my cakes look great, but taste great also. I have a few select flavors because I test out my recipes and only make what I feel has been perfected. Still not convinced? Just take a look at our review page and read real testimonials from my customers.
-
What is fondant?
Fondant is a sweet dough made of a thick sugar paste that can be rolled out to cover or decorate a cake. We use it to portray a more polished look for cakes which helps make decorations, you wouldn't normally be able to do with frosting. In my opinion, it tastes a bit like marshmallows. Some people like to eat it and some just want it for the look of it on a cake.
-
I have allergies, do you make gluten-free and/or dairy-free cakes?
No, I do not. If you have any allergies please discuss with me because my ingredients or machinery may have come in contact with nuts, milk, and wheat products.
-
Do you offer free tastings?
We do not offer in person free tastings at the moment. Tastings can be done by contacting us to order a tasting sample. The samples can be delivered or picked up. The price will vary due to how many flavors are in the tasting sample but the price would start at $20.
-
How do I pick up and transport a cake?
When picking an order up, call, or text when outside and we will bring the cake to your vehicle. Please be ON TIME or you will get charged a late pick-up fee. Place the cake or cupcakes on the floor of the vehicle. That way if you have to brake suddenly the cake will be ok instead of falling off of a seat. Try to keep the cake out of direct sunlight because some colors like lavender will fade. Keep the car as cool as you can when driving with the cake inside.
-
How do I handle a buttercream cake?
Buttercream cakes should be taken out of the fridge a couple of hours before eating. That helps the cake soften by coming to room temperature. That ensures a better texture of the cake when consumed. Please keep buttercream cakes from outside unless it is cooler than 70 degrees. We use real butter and cream so it will melt in hot temperatures. It can stay in a well air-conditioned room for a few hours and maintain its condition. When cutting into the cake, it is advised to use a sharp knife to have cleaner cuts.
-
How do I handle a cake with fondant?
Fondant cakes should be kept refrigerated until a couple of hours before the event; mainly to ensure the look of the cake, and that the decorations remain the way it was designed. It can stay in a well air-conditioned room for a few hours and maintain its condition. As far as quality and taste, your cake will not spoil sitting out of the refrigerator at your event. When cutting into the cake, it is advised to use a sharp knife to have cleaner cuts. The longer the cake is out of the refrigerator, the more difficult it may be to cut clean slices because the cake has softened.

Delivery
Keisha Cakes charges $1.50 per mile from Boynton Beach, FL to the delivery site. If the client is not at the location on time Keisha Cakes is not responsible for the condition of the cake. Florida is known for its heat and that does not agree with cake. Please be at the location on time when delivery is scheduled. In case of an unavoidable occurrence, such as a car accident or poor road conditions during delivery, Keisha Cakes cannot be held liable for more than the price of the cake described in the order. If the cake is not delivered or irreparably damaged, a full refund will be given for the price of the cake. The client will provide an address to the location and inform Keisha Cakes of any gated communities, limited or difficult parking, adverse road hazards, and/or obstacles that may hamper the delivery and quality of finished cake(s).
Client Pick-Up Disclaimer
If the customer chooses to pick up their cake, they MUST be on time to receive the cake. Failure to pick up the cake at the said time (within 10 minutes of the scheduled time) will result in a late charge and having to pick it up at a later time more convenient to Keisha Cakes. The pick-up option is free of charge. Keisha Cakes is not responsible for the condition of cake(s) following the release of cake(s) to the client. Please note: excessive jarring during transportation of cake(s) due to potholes, road construction, or unseen road conditions, could damage the finished product to an unstable and undesirable state. It is best to place the cake flat on the floor of the car if possible.
Internet Cake Photos
Keisha Cakes can duplicate photos of other cakes from the internet but may not be exactly identical because we put our own artistic take on them. We pride ourselves on our artistic abilities and will do everything to ensure your cake will look as close to the inspiration as possible. Also, pictures of our cakes on our website or on our Facebook business page may sometimes look smaller or larger than in-person so therefore we are not held responsible for a cake looking “small” or “big” because of the perception of a photo. We make the appropriate size according to how many people the cake needs to feed. Color matching is not a precise science and different sugar products take color differently. Keisha Cakes will do everything possible to make the colors to the client's requests. Please provide color swatches for very specific colors. Sometimes it is not possible to make a 100% perfect color match because some colors are just not achievable using food-grade dyes.
Cake Set Up
As your cake decorator, I agree to deliver the described cake in a timely and agreed-upon manner. I will set up the cake on the table as instructed by the client. Cakes can be very heavy and require a perfectly level and sturdy table and cake stand. Keisha Cakes is not responsible for any damage caused by tables or cake stands that are unable to withstand the weight of our cakes or are improperly installed. Once cakes are set up, they are not intended to be moved until served. Keisha Cakes is not responsible for damage caused by others after the cake is set up. Keisha Cakes will take a photo of the cake(s) after set up with a timestamp.
Outdoor Event
Keisha Cakes is not responsible for the condition of cake(s) following a set-up at an outdoor event due to the effects of outdoor weather conditions (temperature, humidity, precipitation, etc.) products such as icings, fillings, decorations, etc. may not hold up and cannot be insured past satisfactory delivery and set-up.
Fresh Flowers
In the case of fresh flower usage on the cake, the responsibility of the flower safety and safe food practices will rest with the florist and not with Keisha Cakes. The person placing this order should obtain a notice of plant safety from the florist.
Photography
Keisha Cakes reserves the right to take and use photographs of your cake(s) and desserts, before, during, and after set up, including scene-type photos of the event location, to use for marketing, advertising, and promotional purposes, without compensation to the customer.
Rental Equipment
All rental equipment items (cake stands & parts, etc.) will be for a (1) day period: the day of the event. The equipment must be returned up to (3) days after the event. A late fee of $10 per day will be imposed for each day the items are late. Should any parts not be returned, or are damaged in any way, the renter will be responsible for the cost of replacing the broken piece (if possible) or the entire item. All rented items and their replacement value will be listed with the agreement.
Emergencies, Natural Disasters, and Viruses
Keisha Cakes is operated by Keisha Gaines and is currently the only one that makes the cakes and deliveries. So in the case of an emergency or illness with her or a close family member, we will try to make sure the customer still gets their cake but if it is not able to, then the customer will get notified and a full refund will be given. In the event of a natural disaster (ex. Hurricane, flood, etc.) there is no guarantee we can still make or deliver your cake. If not possible then the customer will be notified and issued a full refund if the cake was not already made. In the case of a pandemic, Keisha Cakes reserves the right to shut down the business.
Food Allergies
Ingredients or machinery may have come in contact with nuts, milk, soy, and wheat products. Please advise the decorator of any food allergies at the time of order. Keisha Cakes will not be held responsible for any guest at events that are allergic to any ingredient. It is the responsibility of the customer to inform any guest of cake flavor and/or that it may have come in contact with nuts, milk, soy, and wheat products.
Non-Toxic Cake Decorations
Some metallic (gold and silver) dusts or glitters used on the outside of the cake for decorating maybe considered non-edible but they are non-toxic. Those decorations should not be consumed. If you have any concerns about any of those non-toxic decorating items please let the decorator know before paying the 50% retainer fee so changes can be made to the design if necessary.
Serving Slices
We use Wilton’s method of slices per cake guide to determine how many slices are in each cake. If the cake is cut using the instructions from Wilton then the customer should get the necessary amount of slices. Keisha Cakes is not responsible for how the cake is cut at an event. The links provided will give instructions on how to properly cut party cakes and wedding cakes.
